Yet another reformat, with some added notes.
Playing as a Free Spirit, I've never noticed any effects on fishing results from current Happiness stats. If this is true for all traits, the only real reason to perk up from bad fishing is to avoid unhappiness penalties when collecting quest rewards afterward.
Fish name [place:time] (sell value) "Description" (effects) [quest]
Most fish have neither Happiness effects or quest use.
Place/time codes: NB (north side of park bridge), SB (south side of park bridge), EB (east side of park bridge), WB (west side of park bridge), CD (cafe dock); D (day), N (night), A (all times).
Effects codes: -H (drains Happiness), +H (restores lost Happiness), +max (increases both current and max Happiness)
Quest codes: * (one fish needed per quest), ** (two fish needed per quest), *** (three fish needed per quest). In the case of the Nightfish, the fish does not have to be handed over to complete the quest, and can be put into storage to reuse whenever the quest repeats. I think I'm still missing at least one fish quest.
