wombat1138Went shopping for bras at Target today. I hate shopping for bras. Most of the year, I can get away with wearing shelf-bra camisoles and layering something loose on top, but the weather has cooled down enough to invoke my tighter-fitting long-sleeved tops as an underlayer for variously felted wool sweaters.
I seem to've gone up a band size relative to most previous bras, at least wrt the brand I ended up with this time.
I was somehow both entertained and disgusted that current bra philosophy seems to assume that everyone wants to be a certain forcibly averaged cup size. A-cups? You will be saddled with mighty foam artillery shells! C-cups? Stuff yourself into this minimizer!
Honestly, I don't think I ask very much from a bra. I have fairly minimal tits which can almost completely disappear under spandex, so I don't really need support as such. All I want is nipple ablation, so they don't keep visibly popping up in cold weather like turkey thermometers. I used to be able to find lightly padded flexible fabric cups that could get the job done, but now almost everything is massively reinforced foam. With push-up underwired pneumatic hardware!
...and after all that, I may still have technically ended up with the wrong size, though I think I avoided the most obvious pitfalls (or would that be titfalls?) of overly loose or tight underbands. However, there's still a bit of flab that was flooping out near the armpit, which according to some bra-fitting technical lore may be a sign of a poorly fitted cup. However, since I seemed to be in no danger of busting out of the rest of the cup (and may have had some extra room to rattle around in-- there's really no way to tell with these foam things), maybe I just have some extra flab.
