Ōoku: The Inner Chamber

Lady Kasuga and her personal background; O-Man's former status as the head cleric of Keikoin Temple.
Tsunatoshi's parent O-Tama, formerly serving in O-Man's personal suite, later taking the name Keisho-in.
I really wish this Google Books source text were available as an e-book, or at least as affordable bricks o' paper-- it was originally published in 1930, so it's not quite in the public domain yet; used copies are ridiculously expensive.
There's also a live-action movie of the first arc; it's been given the alternate English-language title "The Lady Shogun and her Men". The wombat-consort found a fansubbed version on torrent, though apparently it may've had a limited arthouse release in the US.
