Beaded flame flower

Semi-randomly came up with this last night; haven't completely tied it off yet because I'm not sure what to do with it. (It's fairly huge-- ~2" across and 1.5" high-- and heavy because all of the beads are glass.) I'm not completely happy with the methodology that I used, which seems as if it could be optimized... will probably try some other versions based on the same general principle, but with a different colors and component shapes.

*eep* thanks ^_^; I still have to figure out how to finish the piece; it seems as if it should be possible to convert it into a pin/pendant sort of thing, but that'll probably take more experimentation for a while.

Ah yes, that piece (http://travelingtiger.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/liquid-fire.jpg)--I actually started on this from a vague memory of your version of Gwen Fisher's "lotus" pattern; do her instructions have any guidelines on conversion to a wearable item? (other than directly stringing beads onto the long tails to make a permanent necklace)

I really should buy one of Takako Samejima's books one of these days-- she does somewhat similar work, and her books lay out the patterns so clearly that whenever I'm browinsg through them at Borders etc., I always think, "Well, that's so simple that it seems intuitively obvious; why would I actually need to buy this?" and then when I get home I can't remember any of it :b
