jpgs fall down go boom?
Apr. 1st, 2009 07:50 pmDangit. My camera card has wigged out and claims that it needs to be reformatted, despite having worked perfectly well until just now. I knew I shouldn't've kept putting off writing up new eBay listings for all the uranium glass trinkets whose pix are on there. It looks like I can recover the images from raw bits via WinHex, but the trial version limits the clipboard size so I'll have to shell out ~$50 to register the program if I want to get all of the images...
...or actually, maybe not-- the "file recovery by type" widget in trial WinHex managed to automagically recover 184 jpg files from 317 file headers (possibly including previously erased pix I don't need anymore, though some of them may be over the trial version's maximum file-recovery size), with only 2 marked as "possibly incomplete or corrupt." Wow.
Okay, so my file names are all messed up now, but now that the images are back, I should be able to go back through and re-index them.
(addendum: drat-- I may have to register WinDex after all to recover the larger files. Pondering.)
