Thanks to everyone for the commiseration and good wishes :) my typing is going to be a bit compromised for a while, but overall it sounds like the fracture-healing process will be fairly straightforward and nonsurgical. I just have to keep that finger immobilized and dry until I go back in for another checkup next week.Read more... )

Well, this is a new one on me-- I finally got around to visiting the teeny local bead store that I'd found via Yelp, and one string of large faceted rondelles marked as "yellow jade" was in fact one of the brightest uranium-glass specimens I've ever set UV LEDs on. The shop owner seemed remarkably unappreciative to be told this, although I did wait until no one else was around. I've never seen Czech glass that combine that degree of opacity with that degree of saturation; usually the translucent/opaque jonquils are very pale, verging on creamy white, but this stuff was bright bright dayglo yellow. I'd love to sic a Geiger counter on those babies.

Other than those, she didn't have a whole lot of uranium glass. Standard lil' bead shop layout of lots of tabletop compartments; some randomish uranium blends that didn't indicate any degree of interest in those particular colors: teal-green with white givre, uranium jonquil mixed with copper-aqua, some translucent jade-greens, and a few types of just plain jonquil.

Wondering whether to go back in a few days to see if she's relabelled/discounted the "jade"; I was very nearly tempted to snap it up regardless, but couldn't justify blowing the existing stone-based retail tag.
