...so apparently, we're going on vacation to Japan in mid-March, for about a week.
Anyone have any must-see suggestions? My only serious notion so far (i.e., other than "Where are all the doujinshi at???!?") is that I'd really like to see miko performing a kagura, but the only thing I know about how to find that is to look in a shrine somewhere. Hot springs and maglev trains might also be fun.
WRT historical interest, we're slightly more likely to visit Nara than Kyoto, on the hearsay that the latter is more crowded and touristy; otoh, it's not like we actually have any substantive Japanese proficiency or historical background, so a lot of the museum-type stuff we'd normally visit would probably be lost on us.
