There seem to be a lot more hana-kotoba sites since the last time I looked, and there's even a burgeoning Wikipedia entry. However, the latter seems to mostly draw on borrowed Western symbolism rather than more traditional native ones, and the former are mostly in Japanese. (Search on the string ""花言葉"-- Google can kinda translate the results, but not very well.)

Bad: WTF did Geneon do with the name transliterations? They've chucked any sort of long vowel markers, and they also seem to've *changed* some of the clan surnames' pronunciations?

Random ramble: Back in the 90s when Geneon was still Pioneer, the English dubs on their early releases such as Tenchi Muyo and El Hazard were actually pretty darn good. (Though then again, I may only think that because that's the first way I encountered them, esp. a local public tv station that was airing TM.) Read more... )
