Aug. 22nd, 2006 04:14 pmBack in the 70s/80s or so, a lot of people had bumper stickers along the lines of "I [heart] my dog/cat", with a little stylized heart in the middle and sometimes also a drawing or other stylized representation of their pet at the end. "National Lampoon" magazine used to have ads in the back for smaller stickers that depicted a screw, to be placed over the heart logo of the original bumper stickers.
So it occurred to me, what if someone were to have a supply of stickers that depicted an anchor, to be placed right next to the "W" of current political bumper slogans? Some of those vehicles' owners might not even mind, if their primary mental association were to interpret the anchor as a symbol of faith rather than part of a British insult. There would be happiness and joy all around.
There is my contribution toward world peace for the day. Now I get to kick some sort of cute baby mammal.
