Hummus recipe
Mar. 26th, 2006 12:21 pmThe wombat-consort is away on a business trip, which means he's not around to remind me about mealtimes. To indulge my more snack-based schedule and to make up for the beef back ribs I was eating for a few days (hey, they were less than $1/lb), I've decided to make a large batch of hummus.
Yeah, I know; hummus is fairly readily available and not all that expensive, compared to the amount of time it takes to make it from scratch, but I prefer the slightly different flavor you can get by toasting the sesame seeds beforehand. Of course, the catch-22 is that since it takes so long to make, I scale up the recipe enough to make it seem worthwhile, but then by the time I've managed to eat it all, I'm so sick of it that I won't make again for another year. Luckily, it keeps very nicely in the fridge, or at least I don't recall it getting furry last time. At the moment, I'm only in the initial stages, but iirc this is essentially the same methodology I used last time so I don't expect much difference.
