I keep meaning to call up the sleep clinic for a new appointment, but somehow haven't been able to make myself do it. Part of my resistance is the sense that for the moment, all I really need is a new harness for the nasal pillow headgear-- I keep waking up because the elastic has loosened up and the mask is hissing from a leak around my face, so I take it off and pass out again. Which may not be a complete explanation for why I've been groggy and oversleeping, but it's a good bet.
(The nasal pillows themselves are still working fine. I'm not sure of their model name for finding a replacement harness, which shouldn't need a prescription in itself. I got it and the CPAP machine I'm currently using from a local thrift store, actually-- it's half the size of my previous one, its mask/hose apparatus had never been unwrapped, and its history file said it had only been used for about 10 hours total before I got it.)
OTOH, eventually I'll probably need to get a new mask... and maybe there's been a new improved mask redesign since the last time I went in. My previous one was all kinds of crap wrt not staying in the right conformation because of a useless metal armature that would bend out of shape and eventually break, in between wearing nasty abrasions into my face. This one is rather nice, when it doesn't leak.
Then again, maybe I should just leave the sleep clinic alone for now while fretting about other stuff. Eye surgery is coming up next month-- pre-op exam next week. Fairly detailed description of the procedure from another patient as the last long segment here. At least I got to the dermatologist last month and my ezcema near that eye is under control for now, thanks to a rather dreadfully expensive ointment whose first few applications had a delayed effect of feeling like a capsaicin slow burn. Thankfully, that stopped after the first few days.
Just one eye scheduled for now. Blergh.
