Going on vacation next week; still need to pack luggage, find catsitters, etc., so probably won't post much (or possibly at all) for the next few days before we leave argh.
Big colorful rocks in southern Utah-- Bryce Canyon, Zion Nat'l Park, that sort of thing. We've been there before, about 10-15 years ago, but presumably there've been a few millimeters of erosion since then etc., so the hills will be marginally lower to hike up and around. Unless the erosion was overshot by tectonic elevation or something. Still, fun for all as long as the sunscreen holds out.
Bah. I no longer have any doubts wrt your hiking stamina. Sunscreen I dunno, having no awareness of whatever precautions you took this past week (in my own case, the results seem to be noticeable but minor peeling, but no significant discomfort to speak of).
I have managed never to have heard of Zion National Park, but I suppose that's an obvious place name; it is Utah, after all.
