Magatamarama

@_@x ...obviously it wasn't enough for me to get a new shipment of 3000 agate magatama. No. I am now semi-obsessively churning out die-cut paper magatama.

They're a fairly efficient way to use some of the narrow strips of paper that're left over from trimming custom square sizes for origami boxes, but I have no idea what to do with them. Presumably at some point I can try to put them onto eBay for scrapbookers, I guess.

And I've managed to interest a local glassworking studio into possibly making small-batch custom magatama out of dichroic glass and such, and've also signed up for an elementary lampworking class with them next month. I was going to order some small color samples from a specialty sheet-glass supplier earlier this week, but couldn't get my registration to go through on their website and forgot to call them up during business hours to figure that out.

...at least I didn't make the flan in a magatama shape? Though since it was made in a ring mold, I can probably sculpt it into one by judicious serving selection?

Aaagh somebody stop the magatama from eating my brain cell. Which would leave behind a roughly crescent-like shape from the first bite mark, and gah.

Every time I read one of your magatama-related posts, I keep thinking of "Otogizoshi,"-- which, while not my first _exposure_ to magatama, was the first anime where they were a significant, talked-about, obsessed-upon plotpoint (rather than, "hey, lookit the pretty shiny thing in the background").

Alas, to the best of my recollection, even that anime did not have a magaflana.
