(not quite AMVs per se, but music videos at least)

After repeatedly hearing the dreadful "Hey There Delilah" song while shopping, I was dimly inspired to look up more information about it for the sake of further avoidance. By sideways search slippage, this led to Tom Jones' "Delilah", which in turn pulled up a video for his cover of Prince's "Kiss" with the Art of Noise. There are various other AoN videos which I'd either forgotten or never saw in the first place, such as "Yebo", the "Dragnet" movie theme song, and their version of "Peter Gunn".

Good memories of hanging out in the basement after school with [livejournal.com profile] punkwalrus and the gang.

Oh, cool-- SonyBMG has uploaded their own copies of old music videos to YouTube; I'm getting to watch some of my old favorites all over again. (Though unfortunately, I haven't yet figured out how to sort them by alphabetical order, which makes things a bit haphazard when they've got over 1600 clips.)Read more... )

May continue adding to these for a few days. OTOH, YouTube may be conducting an AMV purge, in which case never mind.Read more... )

AMVs again

Lots of anime music videos on YouTube these days. Unfortunately, still not a lot of good ones. Here are a few of the better ones from my most recent binge:

Love Hina + Weird Al: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABfcEQ35Pmc

Haibane Renmei + Sarah McLachlan (perhaps an overly obvious match, but I still liked it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jD83D8-ZeXw

RK + ...oh, just watch it; it's short: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xvv-d-a0B7o

Eva + Muppets (even shorter): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjv53VMps4Y

Addenda, 27 Apr.--

Eva + South Park movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fthdS_3iNgg

FMA + Avenue Q: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLSaZsEmrhE

FMA-based original line art + "Annie Get Your Gun": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNr6zRpEW3I

Furuba + various (improvised chara songs): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xt9exZPDphA (marked as "part one"; "part two" can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyGUXn6nip0 but imho isn't quite as good)

I'd heard Weird Al's song before, but since I hadn't (and still haven't) seen the recent movie(s), a lot of it remained opaque to me; this fan video does a very good job of clarification.

Addendum: similarly, this fan video splices actual TPM footage into Al's video. Somehow, watching it makes me feel faintly but genuinely mournful.

No particular claims of universal standards of quality; these are simply various AMVs that I happen to like. Almost all of them are comedy rather than serious drama.Read more... )

Just splatting down linkage for an interesting AMV; the footage is from the FF movie from last year? and the music is an orchestral/choral piece, but for some reason it's not streaming smoothly at the mo.

I've been wading through waaaay too many AMVs lately; can't quite decide whether to list some of my favorites for public consumption. One huge hurdle is that I tend not to look at AMVs unless I have some previous familiarity with the show or the music/audio, and at this point I don't recognize about 80% of even the band names involved, esp. the popular ones such as Linkin Park, Evanescence, and I dunno what-all.

Yes, yes, I am now so tragically unhip that it's a wonder my bum doesn't fall off, pace Beeblebrox.

On edit: now that I think to look up the usage, evidently "pace" in that last sentence means the opposite of what I'd always thought. Alas. I continue to have a vague ticklish sense that there's still some single fancy-schmancy loanword, or perhaps brief phrase, for indicating an indirect quotation, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is.
